Entrepre-do-it Monday: 3 Reasons to Switch to QuickBooks

iStock_000016767969_ExtraSmallOh yeah, I did it. I used the “Q” word. I know many entrepreneurs dread the switch over to QuickBooks. You may even have a list 15 items long of excuses as to why you don’t need to switch yet. It is too expensive, it is too complicated, or I don’t have enough business yet to warrant using it. These are the common things I hear people say. Even being an accountant, I fought the switch for a while. I am here to tell you why QuickBooks will actually make your life easier (even if you are new to starting your business). Once you get over the initial fear of learning the software, which isn’t bad at all, you will be so glad you made this move! You may be wondering if I get a commission from QuickBooks. I don’t– I have just reaped the benefits of using it myself, so I wanted to spread the word! Here are 3 reasons why you might want to switch:

#1: More Free Time for You

Once you get QB set up and learn the software, it will actually take you less time to manage your finances each month/week than it did using a manual tracking system. The whole point of this software is that it does a lot of the work for you, freeing you up to do things like learn a new language using a fancy new app or try out a raw chocolate recipe you have been drooling over for weeks. There is always hesitation to learn a new system, especially one like QB because it seems daunting. However, just think of the ease in which you will manage your finances once you bite the bullet and try it out!

#2: Everything In One Place

Do you have a business bank account, business credit card, and Paypal accounts to manage? QuickBooks pulls all your accounts into one spot for you. Then you simply go through all of the transactions each month and tag them to the accounts they belong in. Very simple. No data entry, just assigning each transaction. It takes minutes. This function is a serious time saver!

#3: More In Touch With Your Business

QuickBooks has a series of reports you can use to see how you are doing business-wise. Do you want to see your expenses by category? Want to know what your profit is month-to-month? Are you interested in seeing a break down of payments by client? There is a report for pretty much anything. You can even create customized reports if the mood strikes you. Also, to this point, there is a QuickBooks App for you iPhone users. This way you can stay on top of your finances while you are on the go. Enter an expense remotely or check a balance in one of your accounts via this app. You know you wanna!

The sooner you make the switch the better, as your business will only get more complex as it grows. If you know that the only way you are going to surmount this QuickBooks hurdle is to have someone walk you through it, I provide individual coaching sessions. We will get you set up on the software, and walk you through all the steps you need to know to be a QB pro! If you are interested please reach out. Are you ready to make the switch?
